Grade 12.
Basic R425 qualification (diploma / degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse.
Post basic qualification with a duration of 1 year course as an Ophthalmological Nurse (Ophthalmic Nursing Science), accredited with the SANC.
Minimum of 4 years appropriate / recognizable experience in nursing after registration as professional nurse with the SANC in general nursing.
Current (2017) proof of registration with SANC.
Proof of service certificate.
Computer literacy and drivadded advantage.
Ability to work independently and to take decisions as an Ophthalmological Nurse (Ophthalmic Nurse).
Knowledge of nursing care processes and procedures, nursing statutes, and other relevant legal framework such as Nursing Act, Health Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Patient Rights Charter, Batho Pele Principles, Public Service Regulations and Labour Relations Act, grievance procedure, etc.
Able to demonstrate understanding of nursing legislation and related legal and ethical nursing practices.
